Mission: Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks to God in praise for his provision in our lives. One of the beautiful works that Jesus performs in us as his followers is to give us compassion for those who, for whatever reason, are unable to provide for themselves. He then impels us to meet the needs he has brought to our attention. Again, desiring to serve and provide for those God has brought across our path, we made a call to Marilynn Gilbert, the parent liaison at King Middle School.

We asked what we can do, how we could help. Marilynn informed us that she knew of some twenty or more families that would not be able to do anything special for their families for Thanksgiving dinner. Seeing as how it was only two days until Thanksgiving, we scrambled to get together as complete a meal as possible for all of those families.

That day Renovation was able to provide a 10-lb boneless turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Hawaiian rolls, corn, assorted vegetables, and a pumpkin pie for everyone. We thank Mrs. Gilbert for her assistance in not only locating the families, but also for helping us distribute them. Many of the families who had need were friends of ours that we had gotten to know in the Trestle Tree community. It was a blessing to deepen relationships and to provide for needs that otherwise may not have been met.
